"Out of Service" Covers for Movia
Movia is Denmark’s largest public transport company and a central player in collective transport – particularly in Zealand and the Copenhagen metropolitan area. Movia transports millions of passengers annually and is a crucial part of Eastern Denmark’s infrastructure.
They ensure that buses and local trains connect with the rest of the public transport network, allowing passengers to travel on a single ticket across, for example, trains, metro, and buses.
The Challenge
The wheels on the bus go ’round and ’round – but sometimes they don’t. Operational stops, roadwork, route changes, or technical challenges can mean that daily traffic is temporarily interrupted or rerouted. In such situations, there is a need for clear and professional handling of the information normally displayed to passengers.
Movia therefore needs covers for the digital stands that display stops and departure times. When a bus line is not in service, or the information is no longer relevant, it is important to be able to cover the stands in a way that is practical, durable, and visually clear to users. This helps to avoid confusion and ensures a better experience for passengers, even when operations are not running as usual.
The Solution
Protra Group, in collaboration with Movia, has developed and produced several different types of covers to mark “Out of Service” on the stands. The covers must be able to withstand wind and weather, be easy to install and remove, and fit precisely the shape and function of the stands. At the same time, they must appear professional and potentially contain temporary information or visual markings that clearly signal changes in operation.
The covers are HF-welded in our sailmaking workshop from heavy-duty yellow PVC and are produced in several sizes, with “features” such as a clear plastic pocket for text sheets and various printed texts.
The solution is thus not merely a practical measure, but an important part of the overall communication in public transport. When information on the stands is not updated or valid, a well-designed cover helps to create clarity, reduce misunderstandings, and maintain a professional appearance in urban spaces.
